Teaching
Besides research, I am passionate about educating the next generation of (digital) chemists. Below, you can find an overview of courses I taught or students I mentored.
Teaching
Digital Chemistry
Head Teaching Assistant, Spring 2024
This course introduces the topic of digital chemistry, an emerging interdisciplinary field that intersects machine learning, cheminformatics, computational chemistry and software development. In contrast to specialized courses on these separate topics, this course focuses on how to combine the best tools and approaches of each field to solve chemical problems. As Head Teaching Assistant, I was responsible for conceptualizing tutorials, teaching of exercise classes, organisation of hands-on student projects and giving a lecture about foundation models in chemistry.
Laboratory Course: Elementary Chemical Techniques
Laboratory Teaching Assistant, Winter 2024
This practical course teaches environmental scientists, food scientists and engineers the basics of practical chemistry. I was responsible for teaching elementary synthetic techniques to more than 100 students.
Organic Chemistry II
Teaching Assistant, Spring 2022
This course teaches advanced concepts and mechanisms of organic reactions and introductions to pericyclic and organometallic reactions. The basics or retro- and forward synthesis are also introduced.
As a teaching assistant, I was responsible for conceptualizing and teaching exercise classes.
Organic Chemistry I
Teaching Assistant, Winter 2021
This course teaches the fundamentals of chemical reactivity in organic chemistry.
As a teaching assistant, I was responsible for conceptualizing and teaching exercise classes.
Physical Chemistry III: Molecular Quantum Mechanics
Teaching Assistant, Spring 2021
This course teaches the fundamentals of quantum mechanics to chemists and students of related disciplines.
As a teaching assistant, I was responsible for conceptualizing and teaching exercise classes.
Physical Chemistry I: Thermodynamics
Teaching Assistant, Spring 2020
This course teaches the fundamentals of thermodynamics to chemists and students of related disciplines.
As a teaching assistant, I was responsible for contributing to the lecture script as well as conceptualizing and teaching exercise classes.
Mentoring
Thesis Supervision
Over the course of my PhD, I have supervised the research of two students, including one Bachelor’s thesis and one Master’s semester research project.
Austrian Chemistry Olympiad
Mentor, 2019 - 2022
From the beginning of my studies, I have actively participated as a mentor to interested high school students at the Austrian Chemistry Olympiad. In this capacity, I gave courses on various topics and shared my experience of competing in international olympiads.
International Metropolis Olympiad
Head Mentor Team Innsbruck, 2019
The International Metropolis Olympiad is a interdisciplinary high school competitions spanning the disciplines chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer science. As the Head Mentor of Team Innsbruck, I was responsible on assembling a team that won multiple individual medals and a Bronze medal in the team competition.
